Our story

The co-founders of Waterplan met over five years ago at the Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum. Coming from backgrounds in technology and sustainability, they shared a common vision: helping companies make smarter, more resilient decisions in a world increasingly impacted by resource constraints and operational risk.

Waterplan was initially founded as a platform focused on helping water-dependent companies assess and manage water risk through advanced analytics, local data, and operational insights. Over time, the platform evolved by working closely with some of the world’s leading corporations, continuously expanding its capabilities and solutions.

One of those solutions is Civarea: Waterplan’s platform for Data Center Site Selection. Today, Waterplan continues expanding beyond water risk management into new operational and infrastructure use cases, helping companies accelerate sustainable growth through technology, data, and intelligent decision-making.

Jose has a decade of tech entrepreneurship experience and is an alum of Y Combinator and Stanford Graduate School of Business. He co-founded Herolens, acquired by Innovid, and served as CSO of Wolox, acquired by Accenture. Jose is active in organizations like the Entrepreneurs' Organization and the World Economic Forum, emphasizing his commitment to both social and entrepreneurial initiatives.

He founded Proyecto Agua Segura, a B Corporation providing safe drinking water to over 200,000 people across Latin America. He is also a Chivas Venture Finalist, and a member of the Global Shapers Community and the Youth Congress of Sustainable Americas.
